Student Name: Mark Everix School: Oswego High School Grade: 12 Class/Club: AP Drawing with Mr. Skura & National Art Honors Society Title: Polar Meltdown and Arctic Wind UN Sustainable Development Goal: Climate Change Brief Artist Statement: Climate change is very serious issue affecting the functionality of the entire planet. One of the most important habitats to help fight climate change are the Earth’s polar regions. The white snow and ice reflects heat from the sun back into the atmosphere, cooling the entire planet to allow life to thrive and stay sustainable. With the polar ice caps melting, it weakens one of the planet’s best natural defenders. We must work to restore the poles to their former glory by switching to renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions. If we don’t take action, the collapse of both the natural world and our own civilizations are in our current future.
